DANCING ON THE SS MARINA
Friday 25 July
8pm
£5
The Royal Yeomanry Band will be playing as the SS Marina cruises gently into the sunset on Friday 25th July at 8.00 pm But it will be the crowd of dancers who will be getting down, not the ship! This evening of ballroom dancing at the Marine Theatre is a new departure for LymeArts Community Trust, or rather it’s a return to the hey day of ballroom dancing in the 40s and 50s when the theatre was frequently used as a venue for a town dance with the town band playing Glenn Miller hits. The ballroom dancing teacher who has been leading a series of classes, in waltz, rhumba, foxtrot and quickstep, at the Marine theatre on Wednesday mornings, Glen Bayliss and his partner Veronica Phillips, will give a demonstration of their highly professional dancing. The ladies will be pleased to know there is something of Anton Du Beck in Glen’s charm and smile. The evening is open to everyone, not just people who have participated in the classes. The dancers will want to dress to impress and will want to join the captain in his bar on the bridge which will be open from 7.30pm. Tickets are £5.00 from Lyme TIC 012297 442138 .
