THE MARINE THEATRE IS DELIGHTED TO PRESENT THIS FINALE TO THE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL SERIES OF CONCERTS IN THE WEST AT THE MARINE THIS YEAR 03.07.08 | ||||||||||
|
It is rare for classical music presentations to consistently draw interested audiences, and even rarer for a series to survive. A dedicated local postal list of 130, with many more on email, is testament to the excellence of the musicians who have made up the series here in Lyme. The Town Mill’s concert presentation with the Marine Theatre is just finishing it’s third series and a fourth is currently being planned.
A percussion duo with Japanese vibraphones, four oboe players giving us accompaniment to a 12 course menu at Versailles, flute offerings from Schubert to Messiaen, Ireland’s most promising soprano, Ensemble na Mara ( which means ‘by the sea’) in Lyme one week and at the Wigmore Hall the next, have all offered impressive evenings.
Violinist Sara Deborah Struntz will perform Mendelssohn’s ‘Sonata in F major’ and Beethoven’s op47 ‘Kreutzer’ sonata. Sara will also do Bach’s Partitia 1 for solo violin. Sara is a junior fellow at the Royal college of Music and studied with Yehudi Menuhin. She has performed in Italy, Germany and in Vienna at the Konzerthaus. She has been invited to play with the Orchestra for the Age of Enlightenment, The Sixteen and the Kings Consort.
Her accompanist, pianist Alessandro Timossi born in Genoa, studied composition and conducting in Italy. He has worked with Opera Lab, at Tanglewood, and with Peter Maxwell Davis. Commissions have come from Genoa, Munich, Toronto and London. He is presently head of Undergraduate Music at the Guildhall in London.
Performance starts at 7:30 pm, at the Marine Theatre on Thursday, July 10th. Tickets from the Tourist Information Office, or on the door. |
