Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis VARIETY NIGHT Friday 23rd November 7.30pm £7.50 Adults / £5 Children
The Street family will play host to a variety evening showcasing local talent and raising much-needed funds for the Marine Theatre on Friday 23rd November. With Lyme Regis theatre enthusiast and performer Kelly Street at the helm, the show promises to be another memorable family event featuring song, dance and comedy. Kelly takes over the organisation of the variety show from her late father Malcolm Street, a local showman and theatre trustee.
There is no real theme - anything goes as usual – entertainment will include award winning dancers, local bands and instrumentalists, stars of the local stage and the usual element of comedy.
Kelly is very pleased this year with the amount of work that has gone into the show by all participants, in particular the younger members who are throwing their hearts and souls into their acts - and it is certainly paying off. “They are sounding great and I am currently feeling very enthusiastic following our most recent rehearsal yesterday evening.” Kelly goes on to say that she is always overwhelmed by the amount of support she and her family receive to put these events together. “I rely heavily on my family to get me through these shows and without them it would not be possible, however I must mention that the support from the other acts in the show and friends is astounding and I am very grateful to every single one of them. Please support them all if not me… they have worked tirelessly and deserve it…. Besides which you won’t be disappointed.”
Commenting on the recent press regarding the theatre. Kelly says “The theatre is like a jewel to this town, I don’t think many people understand just how lucky we are. To have a theatre so perfectly situated and possessing such a fantastic atmosphere is rare. Getting it in shape after its previous neglect was something that was going to take time and money, more than many originally thought, but we are getting there. I spend many an evening there and can safely say that on nearly every occasion I hear such positive comments from visitors not only spectators but also professional visiting acts who always welcome an invite to return. Also consider the benefit this gem has to play in the lives of some of the youth of this town. Surely their time employed there is much more beneficial than other ways they may otherwise choose to spend their time. Please let’s not throw that away!
The doors open on the evening at 7pm with the show to start at 7.30pm. To reserve tickets please contact the Box Office on 01297 442138 or Kelly herself on 07841 203 106. Tickets are £7.50 Adults and £5.00 Children. This is an event not be missed. Lots of talent and light hearted fun for all the family. |
