Alabama 3 acoustic

Friday 24 May 2024

This unique band have never feared the reduction of their technology. Consequently, Alabama 3 acoustic is brave enough to go out on the road armed only with a battered acoustic guitar and harmonica, preaching Guthrie's word that 'this machine kills fascists.' In homage to the classic delta blues slide players like Mississippi Fred McDowell, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker and their own Rockfree Base, they present their narco-acoustic slant on Alabama 3 and the music that has inspired them along the way.

“I’ve developed a style of guitar that combines elements of both MacDowell and White, with a hint of banjo picking, and tried to give it a more modern, urban twist.”

– Rock Freebase

Complete with Larry Love’s whiskey-soaked vocals, Devlin Love’s soulful chorus and Nick Reynolds bad-ass blues on harmonica, they provide a raucous show, which is in no way constrained by the boring maxim that often goes with acoustic gigs!

Alabama 3 Acoustic have played all around the world in festivals, theatre’s, concert halls and prisons.

An unrivalled Marxist machine gun, Alabama 3 Acoustic are on a mission to get you mashed.

With Support from Southern Fried Groove Queens

Fresh from the fryer of the UK’s Deep South, Southern Fried Groove Queens are a Mississippi Hill Country/Delta inspired duo, featuring Lee Hall on Guitar/Vocals & renowned Blues drummer Lucy Piper, daughter of the late Blues musician, Julian Piper ‘one of the UK’s foremost champions of African-American blues’ – The Guardian.

Cooked to perfection using a traditional recipe passed down through generations, they provide a heavy heart thumping kick and grooves that will make you want to move.

The duo play their take on the likes of old blues masters: RL Burnside, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson and many more. Formed in 2021, they have already played at many of the UK’s leading Blues and Jazz festivals, taking audiences by storm.

With Lee’s unique haunting vocals, energetic slide playing, and Lucy’s infectious hypnotic drumming, they’re not to be missed. Be prepared to get down and ‘juke’ with them!
