Events Manager

An exciting new JOB SHARE opportunity has been developed as part of the core team at the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis

We are looking for two professional and responsible individuals to share the role of Events Manager on a part-time basis.

This is a great opportunity to grow your skills within a unique environment. We blend commercial productions with community engagement to inspire and delight. This is also an exciting time to join the Marine Theatre as we continue to grow as a quality live venue within Dorset.

The role of Events Manager is rich and rewarding with a high level of responsibility. Strong communication and people skills are essential as the role has over-arching responsibility for Front of House, Health & Safety, Bar Management and Volunteer Management. The Events Manager acts as the lynch pin between the office team, artists, audience and volunteers.

Primarily working evenings and weekends – the EM is the responsible person in charge whilst the theatre is open to the public, taking the lead in all situations and liaising with colleagues and visiting companies whilst following the theatre’s policies and procedures at all times.

We appreciate this is a broad role so experience across all areas is not expected, however experience in some of the areas is beneficial.

  • Role: Part time : Mostly evenings and weekends (roughly 25 hours per week)
  • Salary: £25,000 pro rata
  • Holiday: 28 days per year pro rata

Bar Staff

  • Flexible hours 
  • Mostly evening bar work for a variety of different shows and events
  • Weekend day work for weddings also available
  • Previous bar experience is useful but not essential  

Duties and responsibilities

The Marine Theatre has built a reputation for quality live music, comedy and live events. As part of the theatre team, the Marine bar staff are an essential part of the theatre’s face-to-face customer engagement. Bar staff responsibilities are serving drinks, restocking the fridges and washing & drying glasses. As part of the larger theatre team, bar staff are sometimes asked to help with other tasks in the theatre. 

In addition, we would love to hear from anyone with  experience of making cocktails.

Tasks include:

  • Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Using our tablets to take orders and payments
  • Checking customer identification when necessary
  • Engaging with customers in a friendly and polite manner
  • Maintaining a clean and organised bar area, including quickly responding to spills and other health and safety hazards
  • Monitoring and replenishing bar stock
  • Selling bar snacks
  • Clearing glasses and cleaning bar tables, wiping surfaces and operating the glasswasher. Polishing all glassware to ensure quality service for all customers.

Stagehand

  • Flexible hours – ad hoc (when required)
  • Hours released monthly to fit around events
  • Heavy lifting: helping musicians load and unload equipment, stacking chairs for standing only events
  • £10 p/h
  • Preferably local to Lyme Regis
